Miners reject wage offer from S Africa's Lonmin

Striking miners in South Africa Friday rejected a wage offer from the Lonmin platinum producer, the first proposal aimed at breaking the deadlock that has roiled the country's mining sector. "#Lonmin workers say they've been offered R986 increase, and that it's not enough," said an EyeWitness News reporter in a tweet from Marikana. The striking miners are demanding 12,500 rand ($1,487, 1,152 euros), claiming they currently earn 4,000 rand a month.
