
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has unveiled models of Qatar future mosques within the framework of activities of the Ministry’s Ramadan tent, set up next to the mosque of Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab. The new models of mosques, which were prepared by a committee comprising representatives and experts of a number of government bodies, cope with Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly with regard to the preservation of the environment and taking into account aspects of the Islamic heritage. In a statement to reporters after the disclosure of the designs in the courtyard of the mosque of Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab, HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari said those mosques reflect part of the authenticity underscored by Qatar National Vision with their designs taking into account Qatar Islamic heritage and the preservation of the environment. He expected that construction of the mosques to start soon, either through donors or the state. “Designs are available to any donor as long as the model is compatible with the allocated land,” Dr. Al Kuwari said pointing out that the state is pushing ahead with the construction of mosques in different areas of the state. On the budgets allocated for the construction of these mosques, HE Dr. Al Kuwari said the state is sparing no effort in the construction and care of the houses of God. He pointed out that the management of the mosques that undertake this task drew up its financial plan for the three coming years. HE the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs that a number of Qatari imams will soon join their predecessors who have demonstrated the efficiency and capacity of the Imamate and public speech.
