Missing Malaysian tanker found in Cambodian waters

A fuel-laden Malaysian tanker that "disappeared" off the east coast of Johor last Thursday has been found in Cambodian waters, repainted and renamed, and with all the 22 crew safe.

The MT Orkim Harmony, carrying 6,000 tonnes of petrol valued at RM21 million, was spotted 210 nautical miles north of Pulau Redang at 3.45 pm Wednesday, said Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) commander of Naval Region 1 Rear Admiral Datuk Azahari Abdul Rashid.

The vessel, which bore the name 'Kim Harmon', was spotted by a P-3C Orion aircraft of the Royal Australian Air Force, Abdul Rashid told (Bernama) News Agency.

The tanker went missing at 8.57 pm on June 11 as it was ferrying the petrol from Melaka on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia to Kuantan on the east coast.

Of the 22 crew on board the vessel, owned by Magna Meridian Sdn Bhd, 16 are Malaysian; five, Indonesian and one, a Myanmar.
