
Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has received Dr. Irina Bokova, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, were present at the meeting.
During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and Ms. Bokova reviewed a number of educational and cultural issues, and the role of UNESCO in helping the people of poor countries.
The UNESCO Director-General commended the role of UAE's leadership, government, and educational, charitable and humanitarian institutions in supporting UNESCO's educational and training programmes.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed stressed that the UAE provides humanitarian and educational aid for all needy people regardless of their ethnic, religious or geographical affiliation, noting that the country is providing all kinds of assistance and logistical support possible for UNESCO, to enable the organisation to fullfill its message.
The meeting was attended by Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, Director-General of the Department of Protocol and Hospitality in Dubai, along with a number of officials.
