Moldova calls for starting talks on the political status of Transdniestria, the republic’s breakaway region, as soon as possible, Moldovan Foreign Minister Natalia Gherman said. After the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Wednesday, Gherman said, “It seems to me the sooner we start discussions on the political aspects the earlier we come to a right model, which will allow us to solve all problems for the benefit of residents on both coasts of the Dniester River.” “We also discussed technical moments of the Russian peacekeeping mission in the region. There are several technical and procedural issues, which should be solved during the trusting dialogue,” the Moldovan minister said, adding, “There are no issues, which are taboo for the bilateral dialogue.”
