
At least 300 people have been injured in a train crash near South Africa’s biggest city, ABC News reported.
The rush-hour accident happened close to Booysens station south of Johannesburg as commuters made their way home for the weekend. There were no immediate reports of fatalities.
The accident happened at rush hour between two stations, with both trains travelling from the Johannesburg city center to the township of Soweto, said Lillian Mofokeng, the Metrorail spokeswoman for the Gauteng province.
Both trains had been traveling from central Johannesburg to the township of Soweto.
