Moroccan man causes panic on Bilbao metro in north Spain

A 30-year-old Moroccan man provoked panic on the metro in the city of Bilbao, northern Spain, on Thursday when he began to shout "Allah, Allah"and called passengers in the wagon he was travelling in "infidels."

According to the Basque police force "Ertzaintza," the incident happened at around midday in the station of Sarriko, which is in the Deusto neighborhood of the city.

The man, who is confirmed to have suffered psychological problems, was found to be in possession of an 11 cm-long butterfly knife, although he did not use it to threaten passengers.

The Ertzaintza explained he had, however, acted in an "aggressive manner," causing passengers to run out of the wagon and the station. The police were called.

The man was arrested outside the station and placed in police custody before transferred to the psychiatric unit at the nearby Basurto Hospital.
