Relations between Egypt and Iraq are very special and will continue to be so and to be a source of strength to both nations, presidential spokesman Omar Amer said on Wednesday. President Mohamed Morsi's meetings with Iraqi officials, including his most recent one with the Iraqi vice president on the sidelines of Doha Arab summit, always tackle the uniqueness of Egyptian-Iraqi relations and the affairs of Egyptian expats in Iraq, he said. Regarding what was raised on the prevention of a number of Iraqis from entering Egypt, although they received visas from consulates in Iraq, Amer said this matter will be discussed with the concerned authorities, especially the Ministry of Interior. Egypt is a Sunni state and will continue to be as such, underlined the spokesman, referring to concerns over an Egyptian-Iranian rapprochement and possible threats of a growing Shiite tide to the Egyptian community.
