Mozambique minister to visit Portugal on infrastructure cooperation

Mozambique's Minister of Public Works and Housing Cadmiel Muthemba is expected to discuss cooperation with Portugal in infrastructure development during a visit to Lisbon on Wednesday. According to the state news agency AIM, Muthemba will hold strategic meetings with senior Portuguese officials to reach an agreement that will help the southern African country in the future to produce and analyze data of public works. The visit will be a third within 15 days by a senior Mozambican official to Portugal, the former colonial power of the African country. Portugal stands just after China among the foreign countries in terms of funding infrastructure projects in Mozambique. Portugal's presence in Mozambique is also strong in the bank system, where the first two largest banks, the Mozambique International Bank BIM and the Investment Commercial Bank BCI, have its major stakes owned by Portuguese investors.
