Mufti of Jerusalem warns of demolition of maghrba gate

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian Sheikh Mohammed Hussein warned of the dangers to be posed by demolition of the Magharba Gate leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque, stressing that the hill the Magharba Gate is part of the Islamic waqfs (endowments), and that any attack on its bridge is an attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque itself. Sheikh Mohammed Hussein said in an interview broadcast on the Palestinian media, "the real objective behind these schemes is to obliterate the Islamic and Arab presence in Jerusalem in a desperate attempt of Judaization and of wiping out all that is non-Jewish to establish the Zionist myths and allegations. The Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian meanwhile praised the international community support for Paletine''s accession to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). He lashed out at the states and powers that made attempts to close the doors of UNESCO before Palestine''s lawful joining of the organization.
