Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam met on Wednesday with Austrian Ambassador to Egypt George Stillfried.
They discussed ways of bolstering cooperation between the two states in the religious field.
Allam thanked the Austrian parliament for ratifying a law to protect the rights of Muslims in Austria.
"Such a move will boost the culture of coexistence in the Austrian society," he said, adding that Darul-Iftaa (House of giving religious opinions) is ready to provide all kinds of religious support for Austrian preachers.
Stillfried, meanwhile, expressed his country's willingness to boost cooperation with the Egyptian Darul-Iftaa and Azhar institutions during the coming period.
He also lauded efforts exerted by Darul-Iftaa to face extremism and terrorism in the world, and convey the true image of Islam in Europe.
