
Myanmar's Union Election Commission has set 60 days for parliamentary candidates to canvass ahead of the country's general election scheduled for Nov. 8, official media reported Tuesday.
According to the commission's notification, the canvass period is prescribed as from Sept. 8 to Nov. 6.
Political parties and parliamentary candidates are urged to abide by their code of conduct respectively.
The notification vows to ensure holding of the election in a " free and fair" manner.
The election commission has designated a total of 1,179 constituencies across the country for the vote at four levels of parliament.
All of the nominees are to go through scrutiny process of the election commission.
