
Myanmar suffered a trade deficit of 828.43 million U.S. dollars in the first nine months (April- December) of the fiscal year 2013-14, according to the Central Statistical Organization (CSO) Wednesday. During the period, foreign trade totaled 18,667.69 million dollars, with export amounting to 8,919.63 million dollars and import standing at 9,748.06 million dollars, CSO's statistics show. Of the total export, normal trade accounted for 6,649.25 million dollars, while border trade made up 2,270.38 million dollars. Of the total import, normal trade accounted for 8,386.15 million dollars, and border trade, 1,361.91 million dollars. In December alone, foreign trade amounted to 3,108.63 million dollars. In a breakdown, export stood at 1,757.58 million dollars, while import was 1,351.05 million dollars.
