
Myanmar President U Thein Sein met with visiting Thai deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul in Nay Pyi Taw Friday, state radio and TV reported. The pair had discussions on prompt settlement of issues between the two countries by regularly holding their joint commission meeting, designation of Chiang Mai (Thailand) and Kengtung Myanmar) as sister cities, border area development including Dawei deep-sea port development and continued construction of Maesot-Myawaddy- Kawkareik road. The discussions also covered establishment of industrial zones in the two countries' border areas and upgrading of Dawei Airport, the report said. On Friday, Myanmar and Thailand held their joint commission meeting, focusing on bilateral friendship and cooperation, the report added.
