The trilateral meeting between Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey to be held in Nakhchivan will be an appropriate cause of regional cooperation, Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Wednesday. Salehi made the remark in a meeting with the Nakhchivan autonomous republic’s Parliament Speaker Vasif Talibov. Iran and Azerbaijan share common history, culture and religion, Salehi said, expressing satisfaction with the level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. He said exchange of parliamentary delegations would pave the way for further mutual understanding. For his part, Talibov congratulated the Iranian delegation on successful holding of the ninth Majlis elections on March 2. He hoped the current visit to Nakhchivan of Iran’s foreign minister would be fruitful. On bilateral relations, Talibov said Nakhchivan considers the Islamic Iran as its brotherly and friendly country. Salehi arrived in Nakhchivan Wednesday morning to attend the second tripartite foerign ministerial meeting of Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey.
