
The Minister of Interior, Engineer Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, chaired Sunday an emergency meeting of the National Civil Defence Council which reviewed impacts of the heavy rainfall and floods which hit the country in the past days, the affected states, dimension of the resulting damage and the arrangements and efforts being done to alleviate the impacts. The minister has given a directive for providing supportt and shelter food materials to the citizens who were affected by the heavy rains and floods. He urged the citizens to be vigilant, cautious and to adopt the general safety measures. The meeting underscored the importance of mobilizing the people's and official efforts to ward off any expected disasters and risks. Meanwhile, a report of the Meteorology authorities pointed to expected rainfall on Monday and the coming days, especially in western Sudan areas, indicating the River Nile levels are under control.
