US Secretary of State John Kerry has said the duration of the Afghan National Unity Government is five years, ruling out speculations that the agreement ends at the end of two years since its formation, Khaama Press reported.
Kerry appeared in a press conference with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday night following his visit to Kabul.
He said “There is no end to this agreement at the end of two years or in six months from now. This agreement ends – this is an agreement for a unity government, the duration of which is five years.”
Kerry arrived in Kabul on unannounced visit to meet with the Afghan officials on Saturday to discuss issues of bilateral interests between the two nations, including review of the Strategic Partnership agreement signed between Kabul and Washington in 2012.
