Afghan and NATO forces destroyed rebel arms caches and captured and killed insurgents around the county, the U.S. military said Monday. In Kandahar, an Afghan unit found and destroyed a depot of 103 mortar rounds Monday. On Sunday, "numerous suspected insurgents," including leading commanders, were captured in Afghan and joint operations in several provinces. Some of the raids targeted Afghan agents of the Taliban-allied Haqqani network, based in Pakistan. On Saturday, more than 10 insurgents were killed in the Kuz Kunar district of Nangarhar province, the military said. An Afghan force also killed two insurgents, including a Taliban leader, in Balkh province's Chahar Bolak district Saturday.
