Navy commander: Iran should equip armed forces proportional to enemy threats

Iran's Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari underlined that the trainings, equipments and organization of the Iranian Armed Forces should improve proportionate to the threats posed against the country by the enemies. "We in the Armed Forces should train and organize forces, stage maneuvers and supply equipment proportionate to threats; therefore, we are monitoring the changes in the other countries completely," Sayyari said in Tehran on Sunday. "Today, we are living at a juncture that requires us to enhance the level of our vigilance and capabilities proportional to the existing threats," he added. Sayyari said that the Iranian Armed Forces' capabilities should continuously promote to reach the desired level stated in the 2025 Vision plan. In relevant remarks earlier this month, Commander of the Army Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan underlined that the Iranian Armed Forces should be equipped with state-of-the-art home-made weapons and use new techniques and tactics to be ready for repelling any kind of enemy aggressions. "Enjoying advanced, home-made equipment and using new techniques, tactics and correct training should stand atop the Armed Forces' agenda, specially the Ground Forces," Pourdastan said, addressing the graduation ceremony of a number of military cadets in Tehran last Saturday. He also stressed the necessity for continued improvement of the country's defensive power during peacetime, and said, "During the peacetime, the Armed Forces should always be ready to defend the land and entity of the Islamic Republic and this important task will be possible (materialized) through enhancing the defensive and combat readiness." In relevant remarks in October, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei described the Iranian Armed Forces' full preparedness as a major deterrent to enemy attacks, and meantime stressed that the country will not step back in case of any foreign aggression. "Because of their Islamic teachings, Iranian nation are not the men of aggression and invasion but they will not fall short of confronting any aggression," Ayatollah Khamenei said, addressing Iranian military units in Northeastern province of North Khorassan at the time. The Leader lauded Iran's high military preparedness, and stated, "The only reason the power mongers' motivation for waging war has downgraded or getting weakened is the general readiness of Iranian nation and the defense readiness of the armed forces." The Leader said general readiness of Iranian nation, especially the youth, is today in the highest possible level compared to the past and the armed forces are more prepared and more powerful than the past.
