Three warships of the South China Sea Fleet conducted confrontation maneuvers in waters near south China's Hainan Province early Wednesday.The Lanzhou, Yulin and Hengshui warships of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy departed from Sanya in Hainan province on Tuesday along with the warship Jinggangshan.Simulated air and submarine attacks were staged as part of the drill."Air defense and anti-submarine defenses are two challenges for warships. Running the drills is a test for both fleet command and emergency management," said Chen Yueqi, a navy commander.The drills are in line with the navy's annual training plan.
