Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the main goal of NATO to deploy Missile Defense Shield in Turkey is to defend the Zionist regime. He added that he had told Turkish officials that this act of NATO is not in their benefit, because they 'NATO' do not like regional countries to achieve progress, according to Iranian official news agency (IRNA). In his live interview with the Iranian television, the Iranian President said that occupation of other territories and efforts to save the Zionist regime are two characteristics of NATO actions and reminded that NATO presence in Afghanistan and Libya is to change people movements in direction of their interests. These countries are making mistake in defending the Zionist regime, because the regime would not stay long. Concerning Iran's nuclear program, the Iranian President said that it contain two sections, one generating electricity and second using peaceful uranium enrichment in the sectors of industry, agriculture and medical sciences. "Upon our program, Iran should generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity in the next 15 years, and by commissioning Bushehr power plant we generate only 1,000 megawatts," he said. He underlined that Iran is determined to generate 20,000 megawatts of electricity. Ahmadinejad noted that since a western country did not fulfill its obligations to commission the Bushehr power plant, the work lasted so long. He added that uranium enrichment has 16 to 17 cases of applicability in industry, agriculture and medicine, and we hopes to be able to use all these applicabilities in Iran. The president said that Iran has commissioned plant to enrich uranium 20 percent, although, economically, it is not beneficial and also it has no customer to export, but because of western countries behavior to avoid selling it to us, we were pushed to produce it ourselves. He added that Tehran Reactor needs 100 to 150 kilograms of 20 percent enriched uranium for 10 to 15 years, and if we could receive the amount, we do not need to produce it.
