CPN-Maoist, the breakaway faction of the UCPN-Maoist, in the wee hours on Wednesday, captured the land property of Khil Raj Regmi, the chairperson of Nepal's interim government in mid-western Nepal, police said.A group of cadres of Mohan Baidya, who leads the splinter party, hoisted their party flag on 58 acres (35 bighas) of land owned by Regmi in Ward No. 3 of KhairChandanpur village in Bardia district in mid-western Terai plains at around 3:30 a.m.The group, which was led by Drabya Shah, district secretary of CPN-Maoist seized 100 bighas of land (167 acres) in total, including the land belonging to the relatives of Regmi."We will continue with land seizure until the incumbent non- political government led by Regmi is dissolved and a political government is formed," said Shah, as quoted by a local radio station.Meanwhile, the police have dispatched a team of security personnel to the incident site to assess the situation and curb the illegal activity."Our team has brought the flags placed on the land of MrRegmi to a nearby police station," Superintendent of Police Suresh Bikram Shah of Bardia told Xinhua over telephone."We are looking for the culprits and are determined to maintain law and order," Shah added.Nepal's four major political parties including the UCPN-Maoist led by Prachanda formed a consensus-based interim election government on March 14 after the expiry of a legislative body, the Constituent Assembly, on May 27 last year. The splinter Baidya group of the Maoists, however, has been opposing and obstructing election-related preparations of the interim government saying that the formation of the existing government was unconstitutional.
