New Czech republic coalition government sworn In

Czech President Milos Zeman has sworn in a new government to end seven months of political instability after the previous Cabinet collapsed over a spy and bribery scandal. In the government appointed Wednesday, it is a return to power for the major left-wing Social Democrats for the first time since 2006, AP reported. Following their victory in October's parliamentary election, the Social Democrats signed a deal with the centrist ANO (Yes) movement led by billionaire businessman Andrej Babis and the centrist Christian Democrats to form a center-left coalition. Led by Social Democratic Party chairman Bohuslav Sobotka, it is expected to be more pro-European Union than previous center-right governments. The coalition pledged to fight corruption, encourage better governance and support economic growth following the longest recession in history.
