New Zealand supports Iraq in fight against terrorism

New Zealand's visiting Minister of Foreign Affairs Murray McCully announced here on Monday his country's support for Iraq in its fight against terrorism.
McCully made the announcement during talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar Al-Abadi, as they discussed the ways of enhancing relations between the two countries and efforts to combat terrorism, said a statement by the Iraqi cabinet.
The two sides also focused on the economic, security and political situations the region is seeing, it added.
New Zealand supports Iraqi efforts aiming at fighting terrorism and gets ready to train security forces in Baghdad, the statement quoted McCall as saying.
The government in New Zealand decided to reopen its embassy in Baghdad in a bid to boost relations between the two countries, McCully noted.
On his part, Al-Abadi said that the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other "terrorist groups" threaten the world's security as a whole, urging all countries to contribute to fighting terrorism.
He added that the Iraqi government established a fund to reconstruct liberated areas and provide services to them and governorates that enjoy stability across the country.
