Newborn baby, child among 4 found dead in Gibraltar flat

Police in Gibraltar are investigating the death of a family of four, including a six-week-old baby girl and her four-year-old sister, who were found dead on Monday in a flat in the tiny British territory.
Police said no suspects were being sought in connection to the deaths, and British media reported the incident to be a likely murder-suicide.
"It is believed that all the deceased belong to the same family," a spokesman for the Royal Gibraltar Police said.
"At this present moment in time, a full investigation is being conducted by officers of the serious crime unit to establish the cause surrounding the untimely deaths of this young family and are encouraging anyone who maybe able to support the investigation to contact the duty officer of the Royal Gibraltar Police."
"Presently, we are not looking for anyone involved in this very unfortunate event."
The dead include a 31-year-old British male and a 37-year-old Spanish woman.
The authorities said they believe the four belonged to the same family which had recently moved to the tiny British territory.
The alarm was raised after a staff member of the letting company that rented the flat to the family visited the property and found the door locked from the inside.
Gibraltar Chief Minister Fabiano Picardo adjourned parliament until Wednesday after receiving news of the deaths.
"As a husband and father, I –- like no doubt all Gibraltarians and residents of Gibraltar -- am in total shock to hear about this terrible crime," he said in a statement.
"Gibraltarians are not accustomed to witness this type of incident in our peaceful and law abiding community. Words will fail us all at a moment like this and all we can do is keep the victims and their families in our thoughts."
Police said two Home Office pathologists would arrive from Britain on Tuesday to help in the investigation.
Gibraltar, a self-governing British overseas territory located on Spain's southern tip, measures just 6.8 square kilometres (2.6 square miles), and is home to about 30,000 people.
