No joint plan with US to fight Daesh militants

Iran's Foreign Ministry denied that Tehran and Washington have any joint plan to fight the militants of the Islamic State (IS) in the region, Alalam TV channel reported Monday.

"We do not have any plan with the United States for a joint action against the IS, but we will continue our assistance and consultations with the Iraqi and Syrian governments, at their demands, to fight the IS," Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian told Alalam.

"We were among the first countries to help Iraq and Syria in the face of the IS attacks ... and we will continue our assistance only to regional countries which are under terrorism threat," he was quoted as saying.

Iran and the United States have already denied that they were cooperating against the Jihadists in Iraq and Syria.

The Islamic republic has acknowledged that its military commanders are present in Iraq and Syria for military consultations. Iran has also vowed to protect the Shiite cities and shrines in Iraq against IS threats.
