
The Social Development Ministry will organise on January 8, at the Regency Hotel, an honouring ceremony for non-government organisations (NGOs) with outstanding projects in sustainable development as well as charity and social work in 2013. During the celebration, which will be held under the patronage of First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the winning organisations will be presented with cash prizes and Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Award for Sustainable Development Project.Social Development Minister Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Blushi described the award, which is worth BD 5000, as an impetus for NGOs to further boost their role in sustainable development and promote the culture of continuity and competitiveness. She added the award is one of the most important ones in Bahrain to pay tribute to NGOs for their outstanding efforts in promoting philanthropic, social and development work in Bahrain.
