North Korean map shows apparent US targets

North Korea has displayed a map apparently identifying the targets in the United States it has threatened to strike. Chosun Ilbo reported Monday the North's official Korean Central News Agency this past weekend showed pictures of its leader, Kim Jong Un, holding an emergency meeting with members of his strategic missile unit. The pictures also showed a strategic map on a wall titled "The Strategic Forces' Plan to Strike the U.S. Mainland," the South Korean newspaper said. On the map, four arrows linked North Korean regions with four targets presumed to be Washington in the eastern United States, and military bases in Colorado, California and Hawaii. A map of Seoul also was shown on another wall. The belligerent Communist country lately has been raising its threats against South Korea and the United States to a dangerous pitch, with Kim quoted as saying North Korean forces have been put on standby. Chosun Ilbo quoted a South Korean government official as saying the snapshot was clearly intentional. The North, in its latest threat, said relations with South Korea were now in a "state of war."
