Number of Syrian refugees exceeded half a million in Lebanon, according to the latest figures of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Lebanon spokesperson for UNHCR Dena Suleyman told AA that 18,000 Syrians crossed into Lebanon every week. UNHCR is trying to provide accommodation for the refugees but due to high rents they had to stay in abandoned schools and buildings, said Suleyman. Suleyman refuted the news about the outbreak of epidemic diseases among Syrian refugees in Lebanon, and said they were cooperating with the Ministry of Health to prevent any sort of disease. Registered number of Syrian citizens staying in Turkey surges to nearly 350,000, says the UNHCR. More than 80,000 people have been killed and 1.5 million Syrians have fled their country since the uprising began in March 2011, according to UN.
