Obama discusses with National Security Council countering Daesh

US President Barack Obama convened with his National Security Council to discuss the intensification of US campaign to degrade and destroy Daesh, the White House posted on its website.

Obama was briefed on recent progress by Iraqi security forces in taking back Ramadi, and on ways US and its partners in the global coalition to counter Daesh and continue to accelerate and integrate the military campaign on all possible fronts in Iraq and Syria.

The president directed his national security team to continue to intensify ongoing efforts to degrade and destroy Daesh, including by working with partners to increase the military cooperation, disrupting foreign fighter networks, halting Daesh expansion outside of Syria and Iraq, countering their financing, disrupting any Daesh external plotting efforts, and countering their propaganda and messaging.

He also emphasized that degrading and destroying Daesh would continue to require coordination and cooperation among a wide range of global partners, and the United States is strongly committed to continuing to lead the shared efforts of the global coalition to counter Daesh.
