Iranian officials announced on Monday that the explosion in the Iraqi capital city of Baghdad earlier today has not killed any Iranian pilgrim. "The blast in the way of a bus carrying Iranian pilgrims near Baghdad has only injured a number of the pilgrims," Director-General of Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization for the International and Pilgrimage Affairs Mehdi Sabzevari told FNA on Monday. He expressed pleasure that no Iranian pilgrim has been killed in the bomb attack, and said three pilgrims were injured and one of them was transferred to a hospital in Baghdad for severe injuries. Some 1,500 pilgrims come from the neighboring Iran each day to visit Shiite shrines in Iraq, mainly in the holy cities of Najaf and Karbala. But, the number of Iranian pilgrims visiting Iraq's holy cities, specially Karbala, rises to millions on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hossein (AS) each year.
