Head of the National Coordinating Committee on Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration Ambassador Naela Gabr asserted on Thursday that the international community pays great attention to the anti-illegal immigration law approved by Parliament in October.
Speaking to MENA, Gabr said that some Egyptian embassies abroad and a number of international bodies and organizations had requested a copy of the law in English language.
The Egyptian law, that handles the issue of smuggling migrants, is the first of its kind in the Arab region, she added.
The law includes 32 articles criminalizing human trafficking and imposing severe punishments on the traffickers in accordance with internationally recognized human rights’ standards and principles, she noted.
