Official stresses supervision on 'mass line' implementation

Senior leader Liu Yunshan on Sunday called for strict supervision over implementation of the second phase of the Party's "mass line campaign" to relay the success of the first phase of the movement. Higher requirement has been put forward for the supervision work in the second phase as the pubic are holding greater expectations from the people-centered campaign, said Liu, a Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. Liu repeatedly stressed that the supervision must be conducted in a strict manner to ensure people's satisfaction and effectiveness of the campaign. He urged the central inspection groups to focus on supervision on the heads of all provinces, cities and counties and go into the grassroot communities more frequently to listen to the people. Launched in June 2013, the campaign was aimed at making government more accessible to the general population, while cleaning up undesirable work styles such as formalism and bureaucracy. The second phase of the campaign is scheduled from January to September 2014, targeting more low-level departments and leaderships, while the first phase was focused on central and provincial-level departments.
