Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on Wednesday expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation and continuing political crisis in Iraq. He stressed in a release that the Iraqi government should live up to its duties for ensuring security and stability nationwide, saying his organization is ready to play any role required by Iraqi parties for supporting inter-Iraqi reconciliation. The OIC chief reiterated his call for all Iraqi political and religious leaders to exert concerted efforts to stop mounting violence in their country and to build genuine national reconciliation with a view to safeguarding Iraq’s security, stability and national unity.
