
Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, Secretary-General of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, has expressed concern about the escalation of tension in Egypt caused by the extreme contrast in viewpoints between the conflicting parties, and urged all relevant parties in Egypt to exercise the utmost restraint for the sake of the higher interest of the country Ihsanoglu referred in his statement today to Egypt's history, culture and civilization, stressing the need to make unceasing efforts to achieve a peaceful democratic solution. Ihsanoglu called on Egyptians to promote an inclusive dialogue to overcome differences and the promotion of peace, security and stability in the country, to safeguard national interests and put them above all other considerations.
