OIC welcomes Belgian parliament resolution recognising State of Palestine

Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Ameen Madani welcomed here on Sunday the decision taken by Belgian parliament to recognize the State of Palestine.
He said in a statement it is an important move that would contribute to achieving peace and stability in the region and constituting a support for legitimate rights of Palestinians, including the establishment of a sovereign independent state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Madani voiced his hope that the Belgian government would recognize the State of Palestine in accordance with the United Nations General Assembly resolution of 2012.
