General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has welcomed the guilty verdict against former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity during the 1992-1995 Bosnian war.
The United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia sentenced Karadzic to 40 years in prison.
The OIC General Secretariat, in a statement, described the conviction as an important step that would put an end to the impunity and achieve justice for the Muslims of Bosnia and the other victims who were subjected to mass killings and war crimes.
The General Secretariat also expressed hope that the other war criminals in the former Yugoslavia will be arrested.
