
The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani has welcomed the signing of an agreement on 19th February 2015 in Algiers by the participants in the inter-Malian inclusive dialogue to put an immediate end to all forms of violence or provocative acts in Northern Mali.
Madani commended the international mediation led by the Algerian Democratic People’s Republic for brokering the provisional accord and called on all parties to strictly abide by their commitment. He promised the full support of the OIC in the implementation of the agreement which he said was vital for the peace process and the stability of the region.
The Secretary General again renewed his appeal to the parties of their historic responsibility to the people of Mali by embracing the spirit of sacrifice and compromise during this crucial phase of the Algiers peace talks with a view to reaching a comprehensive and durable peace agreement as expeditiously as possible.
