At least one man was killed Tuesday night in clashes between the police and the Salafists in a town close to Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, Shems FM reported. Three police officers, who were attacked by the Salafists with swords, were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital. The attack was carried out against a police station in the district of Khaled Ibn Walid in the town of Douar El Hicher near the capital Tunis, the radio said, quoting a police spokesman. The police have cordoned off the district to prevent possible arrival of more assailants from a nearby popular district, the radio said. The incident occurred less than a day after the announcement of the arrest of a man accused of wounding a national guard colonel on Sunday.
