The Organization of Arab Peoples and Parliaments has urged Arab and African countries to support Egypt's bid to win a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council.
Chairman of the organization Abdel Aziz Abdullah, in a statement Saturday, said Egypt is the best candidate for the post.
Joining the UNSC will reaffirm Egypt's pivotal role in the Middle East, Abdullah said.
It will bolster Cairo's moves in support of peace and stability worldwide, he added.
Egypt has played an important role in maintaining world security and stability over the past decades, Abdullah noted.
The organization, meanwhile, greeted the Egyptian leadership, government and people on the Sinai Liberation Day.
