Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad Madani asserted the OIC's support to the Palestinian national agreement government.
Madani voiced hope to achieve comprehensive Palestinian reconciliation that leads to forming a national unity government.
This came in a statement of the OIC during 5th Extraordinary OIC Summit on Palestine under the rubric of "together for a just solution" that started Monday in Jakarta.
Indonesia President Joko Widodo, during the inaugural session, expressed concern over the deteriorated situation in Palestine, reviewing the Israeli violations against the Palestinians.
On the other hand, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinians need support and solidarity, urging an international protection from the Israeli aggression.
Madani apprised the attendees of the summit on the efforts exerted by the OIC and the decisions made to face the Israeli aggressive violations.
Madani asserted the role of the UNSC to issue a decision providing a clear political reference according to a specific timetable.
