Pakistan condemns militants attack in India

Pakistan Monday condemned an attack on a bus station and a police station in northwestern Indian which claimed several lives.

Indian officials said the gunmen fired indiscriminately in Punjab's Dinanagar town in the frontier district of Gurdaspur, attacking a bus station and then a police station.

"We condemn in the strongest terms the terrorist incident in Gurdaspur, India, today, in which a number of precious lives have been lost. There are reports of others having suffered injuries. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families," the Pakistani foreign ministry said.

The foreign ministry spokesman said Pakistan reiterates its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

"We extend heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the government and people of India and wish the wounded speedy and full recovery," the spokesman said in a statement.

The spokesman did not refer to allegations by some Indian leaders who claimed the gunmen were from Pakistan.
