Pakistani PM chairs meeting of Taliban talks committee

Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday chaired a meeting of the four-member committee formed to facilitate talks with Taliban militants, said officials. The premier gave guidelines to the committee for holding negotiations and discussed in detail the framework and strategy for the talks. In his first meeting with the peace committee, he issued guidelines to the committee and defined its jurisdiction. The meeting also covered topics in the committee's mandate and rules of negotiations with militants that would be discussed in detail during the next meeting. On Wednesday, PM Nawaz Sharif announced formation of the four-member committee to hold dialogue with Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
