Palestinian Ambassador to France Salman Al Harfi hailed as important the Egyptian draft resolution that calls for stopping all Israeli settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including the East Jerusalem.
In a statement to MENA, Al Harfi said that Egypt submitted the draft resolution on behalf of the Arab group and countries that support the Palestinian people rights and oppose the establishment of Israeli settlements.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is due to vote on the draft resolution today.
The Egyptian bill comes in the light of the Israeli incursion into the Palestinian territories and its ongoing violations of the international law, according to the Palestinian diplomat.
The Israeli settlement policy hinders severely any possibility to reach a two-state solution that is supposed to contribute to declaring an independent Palestinian state living in peace with Israel, Al Harfi noted.
