Palestine President Mahmoud Abbas has received a written message from Pope Francis.
According to the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), Pope Francis said in his letter to President Abbas, "I can recall your recent visit to the Vatican metropolis, and I assure you and the Palestinian people that I pray to Almighty God, that gives you the courage and the will to reach a mutual understanding and cooperation for all peoples of the Holy Land and the Middle East".
Abbas had met with Pope Francis on January 14 during his visit to the Vatican. They discussed the current situation in Palestine, and the relations between the two sides, especially after the Vatican's recognition of the State of Palestine.
