Palestine takes part in NPT Review Conference in New York

Palestine is taking part in the Ninth Review Conference of the States Parties to the Non-Proliferation Treaty of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) which kicked off in New York on Monday and will run until May 22.

The Palestinian participation is the first since Palestine joined the Non-Proliferation Treaty to become the party state no. 191.

The Palestinian delegate to the conference sat in the front rows along with the rest of the other party states of the treaty, while Israel was in the rear rows as an observer state.

Ambassador Riyad H. Mansour, permanent observer of the state of Palestine to the UN, said that "this historical participation supports Palestine's status in the international forums," according to WAFA news agency.
