
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received Sunday a telephone call from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During the telephone conversation, Turkish President briefed Abbas on the details of the deal between Turkey and Israel to normalize diplomatic relations. He also renewed his support for the efforts of Palestinian reconciliation.
For his part, Abbas stressed the need to continue the work and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem and the West Bank.
He also stressed the full readiness to achieve national reconciliation through general elections and the formation of a national unity government committed to "the commitments of the Palestine Liberation Organization base."
