The Palestinian government inGaza on Monday made a call on their Foreign Ministry, the Arab and Islamic world, and international organizations for "an urgent action to get the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails". In a letter sent to the United Nations, Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said that "Arab and Muslim countries should help the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails". "International community must make efforts so that conditions in Israeli jails get improved, sick prisoners get treated, and those prisoners on hunger strike get released immediately," the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in its letter. "International community must act urgently and seriously in order to help Palestinian hostages whose rights get violated," the Palestinian Foreign Ministry stated. "Israel violates the rights of Palestinian hostages by ignoring international norms," the Palestinian Foreign Ministry also said. According to Palestinian sources, there are 4,660 Palestinian prisoners and hostages in 17 Israeli jails.
