Pan-European Islamic body condemns ethnic cleansing of Muslims in Central

The Federation of Islamic Organisations in Europe (FIOE) Sunday condemned the recent bloody sectarian attacks witnessed in the Central African Republic, and considered it as "an extremely serious form of ethnic cleansing against the countrys Muslim citizens." This has led to the forced mass displacement of Muslims from the capital, Bangui, along with extensive waves of Muslims fleeing from other parts of the Central African Republic, and seeking refuge in neighbouring countries, FIOE said in a statement. The Federation expressed its solidarity with the Muslims in the Central African Republic and emphasized the responsibility falling on the authorities in charge of the country, the French and African peacekeeping forces, and the entire international community for the protection of all citizens, and to ensure an end to the massacres, against Muslims in the country. The Brussels-based FIOE is an umbrella organisation for many Muslim bodies and organisations in Europe.
