Parliamentary delegation back home from Asian parliamentary assembly session

The parliamentary delegation arrived here on Wednesday after taking part in the Sixth Plenary Session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA), held in Islamabad yesterday. Head of the delegation and Deputy Speaker of Kuwaiti National Assembly Mubarak Al-Khurinij said, in statements to KUNA, said the Kuwaiti participation in the event and the sideline activities was fully successful and fruitful. "During our stay in Pakistan we held talks with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq as well as former speaker Fahmida Mirza," Al-Khurinij pointed out. "We also held talks with chief delegates of the Iran and Sudan on the bilateral ties particularly the parliamentary cooperation," he said. Al-Khurinij thanked Kuwait Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Enzi and the staffers of the Embassy in Islamabad for their efforts to facilitate the mission of the delegation. In his address to the Sixth APA Plenary Session yesterday, Al-Khurinij urged cementing parliamentary cooperation among Asian nations, offering more support to the Palestinian people in their struggle to regain legitimate rights, and increasing the relief aid for the Syrian people. The final communique of the session included two items suggested by the Kuwaiti delegation; these include sending a cable of condolences to the Republic South Africa over the demise of its historical leader Nelson Mandela and condemnation of use of chemical weapons by any APA member state. Led by Al-Khurinij, the delegation included MPs Faisal Al-Shaye', Jamal Al-Omar, Saleh Ashor, Abdullah Al-Treiji and Madhi Al-Hajeri; they were received at the airport by Secretary General of the National Assembly Allam Al-Kandari and other senior officials of the legislature's secretariat.
